How It All Started

eSIMReviews was born out of pure frustration. After a two-week trip across Europe resulted in a $150 roaming bill for just checking maps and sending a few emails, we knew there had to be a better way.

When eSIM technology launched, it was a game-changer. Suddenly, you didn’t need to hunt down a physical SIM card kiosk at the airport after a 12-hour flight. But as the market flooded with hundreds of providers, a new problem emerged: Who can you actually trust?

We noticed that most travel blogs were just copying and pasting marketing jargon. So, we decided to do it differently. We started buying the plans, running speed tests in city squares, testing the hotspot capabilities on trains, and interacting with customer support to see who actually responds.

How We Rank eSIMs

Evaluating mobile data options means looking at real-world performance. The team checked how these esim providers interact with Australian infrastructure across the country. Here is the breakdown of our testing criteria:

25%

Australia Coverage

The Outback creates massive dead zones. We favored plans that maximize reach by utilizing the Telstra and Optus networks for good coverage.

20%

Data Plan Variety

Travellers have different budgets. We gave higher scores to companies offering everything from tiny 5GB top-ups to unlimited data streaming caps.

15%

Network Speed & Quality

Waiting for Google Maps to load ruins the moment. We checked for stable 5G access in urban area centers like Sydney and Melbourne.

15%

User Experience

Complicated tech setups cause headaches. We rated each esim provider based on ease of use and how fast you can buy, scan, and install a plan.

10%

Price & Value

We calculated the true cost per gigabyte to highlight the best deals on the market, avoiding hidden fees and ensuring you get a refund option if needed.

5%

Customer Support

Getting stuck offline requires quick intervention. We tested average response times across their customer support channels.
